Re: KD makes it through the RL journeySo sorry to hear this...
I fully understand how hard it is to hear the word cancer it's an emotional rollercoaster awaiting finding out exactly what they are going to do and the treatments ahead. my thoughts & prayers are with you and your family
Re: KD makes it through the RL journeyYou and your family are in my prayers, KD. Thank goodness that huge mass is gone--it would be harder to face the surgery knowing that.
Re: KD makes it through the RL journeythanks everyone. And yes, I'm thankful I decided to get it taken out instead of waiting till we see how the latest embolization worked.

Re: KD makes it through the RL journeyall the well wishes must have helped
Yesterday they drew blood to look for possible cancer, and today we were told it all came back negative, so the only thing they are concerned about for now is the resection area where they cut it from the liver. They want to make sure that the surgeon got all of the cancer. So the plan is wait 3 months, do a CT scan, and if there is any trace of cancer that they originally missed, we would do a less invasive (lapriscopic) surgery to cut that out. If nothing shows up on the CT scan, then they will declare me cancer free, and I will visit the oncology doctor every 6 months to a year to get another CT scan and bloodwork done to watch for anything new. Yay for this, it's about the best we could hope for after having news that was about the worst we could have received (that the original mass was cancer and not benign). One cool thing ... the mass they removed was so unique (size, etc) that they sent it to the Mayo Clinic for the second opinion. I had joked with my wife a year ago when it got diagnosed that she needed to sell my liver to science when I died, because it was able to grow such amazing things (the 13 cm hemangioma 10 yrs ago and now the 19 cm adenoma that wasn't an adenoma).
