Royal Council Members have been slain

Postby AshOfCaine » Sat Jul 12, 2008 1:34 am

For any that see a town crier talking about the Royal Council being murdered at the castle, it is a nice little quest/mini-event that will lead you all across the realm.

I was just about to toss in the towel when the end was near. Thanks to Wes and Reddogg egging me on, we pushed forward and found the evil Melissa.

The battle wasn't too bad with about 6 of us there, and the end result was a new item "Melissa's Cloak" which has 5% fire resist, and a spring cleaning ticket for 25k points. Just be warned the final battle is in ilsh and in a room with a Balron, so be prepared to fight a Paragon Balron if it comes up.

So is anyone posting Details about where to go? Well I was stuck waiting on the dog to get his walk outside finished, so went and did a surf thru a few forums on this. Stratics is down this weekend, but did read about the quest at another site, and picked up some images from UOforums and some more informations posted there by Regine_EAMythic.

GREAT LAKES — The members of the Royal Council have been assassinated. Town Criers throughout

Britannia are calling for the help of Britannia’s bravest and directing them to speak with

Jasper in the Britain castle.

Updated 4:48am EDT, July 12, 2008.

Reported missing are Lord Casca, Captain Avery, Lady Aileen, and Sherry the mouse.

Jasper in the Britain castle is calling for assistance in finding the murderers and the missing four.

Event Guide Walkthrough (CONTAINS SPOILERS):

EVENT PART 1:

1) Enter the Britain castle and take a left right before the throne room to find Jasper the

Inspector. Say the words “I wish to assist thee” to offer your assistance to Jasper. This will initiate your character into the Forensics team. You may also talk to Jasper for further information using “key words” or special phrases (see below)

Once you have offered your assistance and join the Forensics team, head west down the hallway behind Jasper until you reach the second room on the left. Blood and bodies can be seen covering the ground and furniture in the room.

Open your Skills menu and proceed to use the Forensic Evaluation skill on the body labeled “A corpse of Francesco”. You will receive a notice that there is a ‘parchment’ in his pocket. Double click his body to receive “A Bloodied Parchment”.

2) Take the Bloodied Parchment to Olivia at the Illusionists’ Guild in Moonglow. To reach Olivia, use the Teleport spell, Shadow Jump spell, or the round teleporter inside of the building on the first floor.

Note: Before you speak to Olivia, make sure you have one Zoogi Fungus (can be looted from Black Solen Ants in Wind, or Red Solen Ants in the Solen Hive) and one Poison Sac (can be found to the far east of “A Speckled Scorpion” in the desert of Compassion, or as loot on Acid Elementals in the Britain Sewers).

When you have these items, return to Olivia and hand her the Zoogi Fungus and Poison Sac.

Next, drop the Bloodied Parchment on her to receive “A Soggy Parchment”.

3) When you have obtained the Soggy Parchment, proceed to locate Althara the Scribe in The Lycaeum, located to the northwest of Moonglow city. You may also Use the most upper northwest teleporter in central Moonglow to reach the Lycaeum.

4) When you reach Althara she will hand you a book entitled “A Transcription” written by Aileen, which will identify further clues in the investigation. Using this book, proceed to Trinsic and locate the first house southeast of West Trinsic Bank. On the bottom floor in the back room there is a book entitled “A Hastily Scribbled Message” located on the bed, and another book entitled “My Journal” located in the drawers to the west. These books will also reveal more clues as to the whereabouts of Aileen and Sherry the Mouse.

5) Next, while in Trinsic, locate Anselm in the Mess Hall located to the far northeast of Trinsic. When you locate Anselm he will direct you back to Britain Castle where you must locate Brian’s room. You can find the room by traveling north outside of the castle entrance to the first double doorway you see (opens into a tinkering room). Proceed to the back room.

This is Brian’s Room, and in here you will find another book entitled “A Journal” in the northern most chest. In this journal Brian leaves hints related to the plot behind the murders.

6) Based on the two clues in the book, you will have to journey to Nu’jelm and Blood Dungeon (located northeast of Spirituality (Ilshenar) moongate). When you reach Blood dungeon, head to the farthest southern room. There, you will find another book entitled “Fools” written by Quain the Transmuter. Caution: It is unknown at this time whether or not visiting Blood dungeon is a necessary part of the event. The book only explains how Quain has drawn you into a trap in the depths of Blood dungeon.

7) The next goal is to find notes left behind by other individuals relevant to the event.

First, travel to the Britain sewers (located under the archway in front of the Sweet Dreams Inn (due east of Britain Castle). Proceed through the sewers until you find a “Dropped Basket” containing a book entitled “A Note” written by Sara, along with a slab of bacon and shackles.

Proceed to the rear exit of the sewers in the far northeast corner and enter T2A (a dark, dirt-floored cave).

Proceed to exit the sewers from the cave and into T2A. Once you exit the cave, look for another book entitled “A Note”, written by Erik, along the western edge of the swamp (just west of the cave). Erik’s note will provide another clue as to the location of another meeting near the Minoc cave.

8. Head to Minoc and go due north to the north-most part of the city. When you reach this point, head east until you hit a small strip of land connecting Minoc with a long stretch of land (see picture below):

View Image: http://www.uoledger.com/wp-content/uplo ... vemap1.gif

Note: The cave you are trying to reach is not within the Minoc mining camp to the east of the city.

When you cross the small strip of land onto the long stretch of land with a forest to the north and mountain to the south, head north. After heading north for about 30 seconds, head due northwest until you reach the cave shown below:

Walk through the cave. When you exit there will be a ledge two steps to the southwest of the cave exit. Here, you will find a book entitled “A Message”, written by Sara. The book describes traveling to the Ethereal Fortress with a password in mind that ends in ‘bus‘.

9. After reading the book left behind by Sara, head to the Ethereal Fortress. The Ethereal Fortress is located due north of the Spirituality moongate in Ilshenar. Be sure to stay close to the mountains while you travel north.

Caution: You may encounter a pixie spawn while in Ilshenar. Using characters with good karma is recommended.

As you run north you will come across a forest with reapers and spider webs. In this forest, along the eastern mountains, you will find a cave entrance to the Terathean Cavern. Run to the far east of this cavern to find another cave entrance into a small room opening. Continue east until you find a circle of pillars with a teleportation token. This will lead you to the Ethereal Fortress.

10. Once in the Ethereal Fortress you will be challenged to a series of obstacles that require passwords to proceed.

Please read the following instructions before proceeding through the obstacles:

Head north through the Ethereal Fortress until you find an underground entrance. Once below, continue running north until you find a small brown deed on the floor labeled “masteropenthydoor”. This is your first password so repeat the phrase (with no spaces)

“masteropenmydoor” over the brown deed to enter the next room.
Once you enter the next room you will enter a long corridor that becomes a fork. Run through this corridor until you reach the fork and take the west hallway until you find your self entering another room. You will notice that the door in this room is not accessible. From here, there will be a series of locked doors that require passwords to enter (Caution: within each room is danger).

To open the first door, say the phrase “painless operation”. This will lift you into the next room filled with undead spawn. Again, proceed with caution.

Once you enter the undead room, proceed to the northern door and repeat the phrase “safety in numbers”. This will branch you into another hallway for a second of safety.

After you recuperate, continue up the hallway to enter another hallway with a door that leads to a room with daemons and balrons. The door to enter the room does not require a password.

Run to the far northern door of this room and repeat the phrase “resistance is futile”. This will again bounce you to a temporary safety hallway.

Once you get passed the Daemon room, proceed again up the northern hallway to enter a new room filled with Humanoid creatures (ogre lords, troglodytes, etc.). The door to enter the room does not require a password.

Once you enter this room, quickly head to the eastern door and repeat the phrase “concerto” (conerto) to be bounced to the final hallway (which is safe from henceforth).

Continue down the hallway to discover a small jail with the unsuspecting missing person, Casca. Casca will thank you for saving him and explain that he is too weak to travel by himself. He will inform you to return to Captain Ulrich for your reward for his rescue. To claim your reward, say “help”. You will receive a small parchment entitled “A note from Casca”. Take this to Captain Ulrich located at the Warriors’ Guild in Britain.

To find Captain Ulrich, head west out of the west Britain exit until you find a small keep. UIrich awaits at the top with your reward.
Suggestion for this quest:

Before you embark on Sara’s quest for rescueing Casca, please take a moment to do a few things:

Make simple macros that follow a sequential order (e.g. F1, F2, F3 or A,B,C) for all of the

passwords:

“masteropenthydoor”
“painless operation”
“safety in numbers”
“resistance is futile”
“concerto” (conerto)
These macros will definitely increase your success chance of getting through the room spawn without dieing and will prevent dieing while typing the next password.

Try to visualize the location of the doors your first time through. This will help you speed through at a quicker pace.

There is no healer at the end, so if you die you can proceed to the end but be prepared to wait for help.

Stealthers are the best characters to use for this quest.

Known Keywords / Phrases and Responses for Jasper:

“I wish to assist thee” — [places you on the Forensics team to begin participation in the

event]
“Olivia” — An alchemist with the Illusionists’ Guild on the island of Moonglow.
“Sherry” — A close friend of Lady Aileen, believed to be together in an unknown location.
“FOA” — The Followers of Armageddon; a group of crazy fanatics dead set on the destruction of

the world.
“Lady Aileen” — A noble who has been residing at the Castle. Her room has been ransacked.
“Avery” — Leads Lord Francesco’s personal guard and has led many a raid against the FOA.
“Francesco” — Treasurer, but basically ran the show around the Britain castle. A forensic

evaluation of his body is pending.
“Casca” — Ambassador Casca was seen entering the Council room the night before the murders,

but is not among the bodies.
“Sara” — Leads Lord Francesco’s personal guard and has led many a raid against the FOA

From Regine_EAMythic

If you guys get stuck, the best advice I can give is go back to the NPCs and try different

keywords with them. It will ALWAYS be a word they have used themselves in one of their

replies.

The books also normally contain a clue on what to do next. The one is the sewers simply indicates you're on the right path, just keep going.

In the fortress, make sure to mouse over decorative items to get the clues for passwords.

Yes you are on track. The pedestal with crystal has the rebus inscribed on it. Solve the rebus and it will allow you to get in the room with the Liches.

Wrong, people in the ethereal fortress are very much on the right quest.

Ignore the ghost though as this one was indeed from a previous quest. But you are expected to

go to the ethereal fortress, through the crypts. If you follow the clues from the books after

the sewers, they tell you to go to the ethereal fortress.

If you didn't go to the fortress but straight to the final boss, you actually lost a

significant part of the storyline, and more ...

My advice to you is to speak with other people also doing the quest and share information. I

believe I've seen both the Ethereal Fortress passwords posted in this thread.

Those who are truly lost, you can wait until someone posts a proper walkthrough. It's not

about who does the most damage or who gets there first. So don't give up!

note: Passwords found so far.

masteropenthydoor

painless operation

safety in numbers

concerto

Here is the password to get to the final boss:

- martoovehlkxrisspince -

when talking to casca...

- make sure you help him...

should be a nice surprise when talking to ulrich...

have fun!!

A few notes I from UOForums.

Couple things, all you need to do is talk to casca and get his scroll and give it to the dude

outside britt on top of the building to get the 25k points, you dont need to do the whole quest.

Also as long as you know the pw to get into the boss you can and it seems to be one cloak per

character, i've done it 4 times thus far. Also you get an additonal 25k points when u kill the boss, again once per character.

The cloak is also clothing bless deed blessable!

Also, the boss drops ML artis and ingredients and one more cool item which she is wearing in her paperdoll.

And last but not least, all the people asking for passwords, try asking the NPCs about them, it might help

Sorry if there a repeat of information above, I was reading and coping this from two locations and trying to get a few pictures as well. All these pictures are from UOForums and UOLedger. Sorry if they out of order but at 5am it a little hard to remember what, when, where, why.

Note you don't have to be a high damager to get the cloak & ticket from Melissa. I even took my crafter down there (when I knew there was a good crowd there) and used blade spirits and mind blast. Granted he died on the way, but the teleporters you have to speak at work when dead.

My lumberjacker/mule wasn't able to do enough damage as he spent most of his time running from imps and balrons, so since he my alchemist/mule too will try potions and sure will get the items then.

All in all, have taken 10 chars and got 10 cloaks and 550k spring cleaning tickets to show for it. Now if there was just something I wanted from the list. :)

Aside from the 2 one time only items, there are people camping the area for the loot off Melissa, so normally enough people there to take her down without problems.

I completed the first part where we get to Casca and get some "help" for him, nice ticket at the end from Ulrich when you hand him the note from Casca. 25k pts for spring clean up. Before you go one best put that ticket up.

When you do the Casca part, first set up a macro to say all the passwords for the quest, make sure to read all about the rooms, and double check gold and insurance, it might be better to die in one room and walk thru as a ghost to the end and have someone res you there.

Now if I remember correct go to Illish Honesty

and enter the Wisp dungeon go all the way to the evil mages yada yada. In the back is Dark Wisp statues in a row leading to an alter at the alter say this

martoovehlkxrisspince

You drop down then go to the middle of the Abbys dudes room and say

eored

Once defeate melissa you may get a Cloak saying Melissas Cloak +5% Fire resist, A white peral Necklace <--which is cool and some peerless loot

I set up two passwords [in2d] first part for Casca

masteropenthydoor
painless operation
safety in numbers
resistance is futile
concerto (conerto)

Be sure to place a delay between each one as you will need it to make sure you say the right word at the right door.

martoovehlkxrisspince

eored

The above is for the wisp dungeon and also the boss monster at the end

Ya I think we need to camp this for a while, I might even try Ash idea of running all our charactor for the 25k points.

You know you could do that for the Casa part to, all you need to do is be res at the end for Casa to say help to him to get the message from him for Ulrich

Yeah I was mostly lucky doing Casca portion, out of 11 chars only 3 died along the way but someone was there at Casca to rez me up.

And using Greater Explosion and Greater Conflaguration potions on Melissa worked to get my alchemist the cloak and ticket. Put on 50% Enhanced Potions jewelry for good measure and used about 15-20 Explosion and 5-10 Conflaguration. My mule with only 70 Magery was able to complete casting Blade spirits and Mind Blast. So as long as there is a group there (which i suspect it will be camped by large group till it is over) then even low end characters can finish the quest.

The Royal Council, representing the nobility from every shore of Britannia, had gathered again in Castle British. Events of late were chaotic, dividing their time and resources away from each other. The militia of a half dozen cities had been sent scurrying across the land, trying vainly to meet each new threat – often only to arrive just as their foes departed.
Even the Elves of Heartwood had been attacked. A single man adorned in dragonscale armor had appeared in their midst, and, for all reports, had done nothing until he had been provoked. “Oh, but what a response,” Francesco inwardly mourned, noting the casualties and devastation wrought high up in their sacred wood.

“Seems perfectly reasonable to me,” a woman spoke, standing to counter him, “It's your fault, after all, is it not?”

After all he had done, tried to do, won and lost, he knew they condemned him. For an experiment gone awry, for rumors of the Shadowlords loosed on their world, and for the ceaseless attacks on their sovereign territories.

“And if it is, I will bear it! But we must act as one!”

The noblewoman leaned forward over the table and hissed, “What good is acting together when we have nothing left to give! Our cities, not yours. Our cities are the ones besieged!”

“Let us hear our lord the treasurer!” called Ambassador Casca.

Voices rose in a torrent of dissent, arguments erupting around the table. Francesco stretched out his hand and, surprisingly, they quieted. Francesco had the answer, they thought. He always seemed to know what to do.

Francesco did know. This was the moment he had been waiting for. He would soon speak, proposing that the larger cities volunteer their own local militias to serve with the kingdom's, creating a military force the likes Britannia hadn't seen since the wars of Lord British's time. They would rush to the defense of the smaller townships and secure the hearts, minds, and, most importantly, the lives of the oft neglected people.

Britannia would be stronger that ever. In a way, their struggles and conflicts had at last offered them a chance to heal into a stronger nation, even without the heroes and legends of the past.

Someone screamed.

Francesco looked down at the shining blade protruding from his chest. It was transparent, with small rivulets of crimson blood streaming down the edges, distorting the image of his feet like glass. Glass... He opened his mouth in silent surprise, the blade shattered, and darkness rushed in from the corners of his vision.

Swords were drawn. The nobles rushed, at first, against the invaders cloaked in their dark robes. Panic set in after the third or fourth man died, impaled on a breaking sword, or sliced apart with ease by the merciless and silent enemy.

The guards were long dead. The doors of the chamber too far away to escape in time, but the survivors tried, desperate for escape, rushing together and falling together. The doors opened! The last noble crawled forward, looking upwards into the horrified face of a guard who had heard the confusion from outside.

The guard turned jumped back and turned.

Later, some would wonder whether the last sentry had cowered and attempted to run, or if he had bravely attempted to warn the castle. The assassins in their cloaks had little care for heroic tales, and simply slaughtered everyone who had seen them.

The Royal Council was no more.

Additional Event Notes:

If you see MegaCliloc Errors, please update your game client
The developers will communicate on UOForums while Stratics is down for maintenance
Talking to NPCs: They use a keyword/reponse system, so pay attention to what they say and try to get more information. Some of them also take objects in return for info or rewards
Hint #1: You need to use Forensics Evaluation (any skill level) on the corpse of Francesco, then double-click the corpse to find a clue. Turn it over to Jasper, the Inspector.
