Losing Insured Items

Postby Atta Kquast » Sat Mar 21, 2009 9:04 am

A few nights ago a couple folks lost insured items at a Bog champ spawn. 2 were bows from one person, 1 was a headgear piece of armor. The headgear was returned (and verified was insured).

Folks *think* they insured their items but they never really now for sure, and if you are the person, it can be really REALLY frustrating, especially if its a very good and expensive item. We used to hear about "the insurance bug" before. Most everyone checks to make sure we have gold in checks, as well as, loose gold in the top level of the bank box.

Turns out that its happened to some other folks all within the past couple days. On Stratics there was some conversation here: http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=133509 & http://vboards.stratics.com/showthread.php?t=133643 .

Some of these folks reported dying 2x and on the second time insured items were lost. Some reported it happening at a CS, others didn't. It doesn't look like its getting a lot of exposure, but I would be very aware that something is going on, and probably a bug not an exploit, and probably due to new changes, not the old bug.

Unfortunately, there is not anything proven to help, beyond the obvious "insure and renew". Here is what is believed to help:
  • Re-insure all your items now.
  • Verify you have "Auto Renew Inventory Insurance" enable on your avatar's context menu. If it is set to "Cancel Renewing Inventory Insurance", you are good.
  • If you receive an insured item from another player, re-insure it.
  • If you transfer insured items from another shard, re-insure them.
  • If you transfer insured items from another character on your account, re-insure them.
  • Make sure you have at least 100k gold in your bank box in check form in the top-level of your bank box.
  • Make sure you have at least 100k inside another container inside you bank box.
  • Make sure you a pile of gold (60k) in the top-level of your bank box.
  • Use UOAssist and dress macros. Make sure you "save whats currently worn" before battle, then when you die and re-dress, it makes getting dressed faster. But, if the macro gets hung up and stops suddenly, you know something is wrong because it cannot find an item(s).
These are all the theories I have heard. I personally have never been hit by the insurance bug ever, and hope to keep it that way.
