Blank scrolls?

Talk about anything that's clean.

Well I started on the towns today, marking runes, and trying to build up the number of scrolls. Only managed to get to 80 each, but was trying off and one.

I would love to have a blue beetle! Right now I'm just inscribing as I go and selling the books back to the mages I buy scrolls from. But being weighted down will definitely be a problem once I get to 160 scrolls.

Now, if I could only remember why I needed to GM inscription in the first place...

Ask sometime (not event time) if any tamers are on that might be willing to tame a blue beetle for you. Best is to get it bonded, by feeding it and stabling it for a week. It sure helps with working purchasing scrolls or working skill. Of course, if you bond a pack horse, it recalls with you and you can accomplish almost the same thing, but the beetle is more convenient by far. If you log out with items on your packhorse, it will probably disappear, but logged out on top of the beetle, the things are safe. Just be sure to feed the pets so they don't go wild.

I worked the mages in Trammel and Tel Mur last night, stayed up way too late, and got a total of about 63k scrolls!

A very helpful player named Kindle was working up Nightshade on the mages, and was kind enough to give me a beetle, which helped tremendously. Kudos to Kindle if you see him/her.

So I am set for now, but am also quite interested in this technique. I am not sure how the timers work, but it seems that we could have a "reagent day" where we work together to keep buying up items until all mages and scribes are at 999.

It took from about 9 pm to 1 am (3 hours) to get almost all of the mages on my route to 999.

Does anyone know how long the mages will stay "bumped" before they decay back to 20 items? Do they suddenly drop to 20, or do they drop in increments? Also, so they reset at server start?

If I remember correctly they drop the same way they gain...every 20min or so they will go back down a certain amount...hehe

basically each has a timer, not all the same (20 min for some, 30 for others, etc), and at that time it checks to see if an item is in its inventory. If at least one is, then it reduces the quantity by half. If they are all gone, then it doubles the quantity.

So in order to work them up, if u catch a vendor that starts at 10, and every 20 min it doubles or cuts in half, AND u catch it ans buy it out before the next time it checks itself, then this is how it will progress:

10-20-40-80-160-320-640-999

Remember u will need to carry gold until the price is enough that your purchase is 2k or more and it will then grab gold from your bank for those transactions.

So start to finish on the above example would be about 140 minutes, or 2 hrs 20 min.

The hard part is once they are up to 999, u need a beetle to carry them, or packies, etc, and you will NEVER want to stop farming (because u invested over 2 hrs to get them to this level). I think I have 20 vendors that I farm up, so heres the math, assuming 30 min for each spawn:

first round=20 x 10 = 200 scrolls
then 20 x 20 = 400
then 20 x 40 = 800
then 20 x 80 = 1600
then 20 x 160 = 3200
then 20 x 320 = 6400
then 20 x 640 = 12,800
then 20 x 999 = 19,980

so at almost 20k a round after that, u can see how fast it adds up and how much u will not want to stop. But at some point you have to.

So it would take you 3.5 hrs to build it up, then u would get 40k scrolls an hr after that.

Hard work, but worth it if u do it on a seldom basis so u dont get sick of it.

Yes, it is addictive - good to know about the halfing after 20 minutes. I did not know it was the same timer event, but that makes sense.

I halfheartedly work on it today, and got my vendors up to 999. I only worked the mages that I can buy from while also standing at a bank. This includes Delucia and Luna. So when the scroll drops got big I just started putting them right into my bank box and making 10k deeds.

But yes, once you get them going when do you stop? Just one more set of 999 scrolls is so tempting!

Congrats on GM Scribe! It's one of the things I really enjoy - yes I am that odd!!

On another note - I love taming blue beetles so if anyone needs one let me know!

Thanks all!

For cooking I made enchanted apples for a while. Now I'm at 79, and just buying 500 fish for 1500gp, chopping them up into fish steaks, then cooking the steaks in batches of 100 each. gained 1 point in about 15 minutes this way. Not too tedious. Yet.

I also just realized that Real Estate Brokers also sell Scrolls. So you can hunt up Mages, Scribes, and Real Estate Brokers. More to add the the route.

Finished Cooking. Started cooking fish in batches of 1000 or so each. Worked up to 97, then no more gains. Made grapes of wrath and that got me to 100. Whew!!!
