When doing your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.
When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue,NW
Washington , D.C. 20307-5001

Please pass this on so we can let our military know we care

If I remember correctly, the hospitals will not deliver any mail that is not specifically addressed to a particular patient. The reasoning behind this, people who don't support our troops sending hate mail to injured troops and the hospital not having the staff to screen the mail. I saw this last year at this time on 60 minutes or some similiar news show. I would double check with the hospitals web site or call the hospital to confirm or deny this before sending anything.

Although I do agree its a nice idea, but the above worries are valid.

type of christmas cards that should be sent are the post card type, not full envelopes, as these would require no screening by staff with the exception of turning the card over.
