I called a GM after I found this cat in the elven robe un-attended macroing magery at Spirit shrine. Turns out the cat did not speak english, well we know GM's exist -- I mean they don't DO ANYTHING, but they exist.

Yes Rex, the GM's do exist-- Nice thou you got picture so others can see that they do come. They are doing better recently than they were for awhile.

Been a lot of talk of canned responses so must have hired a few extra--noticed only arrive when you notify them of somone misusing the system.

GM's are lazy and worthless these days. I remember days that each time you paged one showed up, or a counselor.

Back, back, back, bacccccccccccccck in the day my locked down black tub disappeared from my house and I paged a GM and 3 GM's showed up and 2 counselors -- those were the days.

Rex, do u have any idea what the quotas are per hour for handling calls?

And any idea what they used to be?

The answer now is approximately 30 per hour is what they are expected to handle. 2 minutes per request. I seriously doubt u or any of us could handle one request every 2 min every hour we worked as a gm, and still have players feel like they got "service".

The answer to what the quota used to be? There was none, the number I heard was the avg gm handled 15 calls per hour back in the day, so thats still only 4 min per call. Now some are easy, "Can I get a gms robe for free from you?" .... that kinda request gets the canned response, so they can spend more than 2 min with the next one.

To say they are lazy and not doing their job is like me saying Rex is lazy because he has only posted 74 posts, compared to Malachai, who has posted 514 posts here so far.

Is that fair? Nope. Is it accurate? Hell no. Everything in the world is RELATIVE.

Are there great gms? Hell yes. Are there still poor ones? Yes, some. Thats why you should give them poor grades for handling calls if they truly do a poor job. But be careful of your expectations. It sounds like u expect a gm to come sit and chat with ya, go over every issue, and spend oh say an hour with you, till you are happy that u are getting service.

Well, from other players, if u spend that much time with a gm, not only are they NOT doing their job, because other players now wait longer for their calls, but YOU are ripping all of us off by wasting gms time with something they could fix in 3 min and stay on schedule.

This game is all about money for EA, if u waste gms time, and they have to hire more gms, then they charge all of us extra money. The vast and I mean VAST majority of players would not make that trade (more time with gms for another $4 a month for example).

I, personally, have never had a problem with a gm, primarily because my expectations are realistic. I have prob spent 20 min total with the 6 gms Ive ever talked to, and only once did I feel I got one that didnt care. The other times they fixed my issue, and I was very happy.

I just think you are being totally unfair to the gms with that broad stroke of the brush "lazy and worthless" .....

I think it's human nature to poke fun at those with more power than ourselves. It's a lot like politics. The majority (usually) of the population votes in a president, then, seemingly, the majority of the population doesn't like that president and takes every chance to down him about everything he does.

As an example, think about all the people who think we shouldn't be in Iraq and that this is Bush's war for oil and all that and think about what would have happened if we had any one of the vast majority of rash-thinking, irrational individuals in his place; those same individuals who down Bush for sending in troops are the same individuals who would have more than likely wanted to drop nukes over there destroying our ties with the UN and a lot of Iraq's surrounding countries. (maybe dropping nukes is a bit of an overstatement)

Anyway, what I'm getting at is this: People will always complain about GMs not doing what they "should" because they have the power to fix things that go wrong, but havn't the power to determine the truth in every situation and thusly cannot fix those problems without causing further mayhem. It's the ventillation of human emotion to insult the holders of that power.

I really don't think it's worth argueing over but I don't think it's always right either. On top of that "lazy and worthless" IS a bit harsh of a way to categorize the entire group. (GM Sparkel pwned face while she was here)

GM's are almost always really polite to me. I've requested GM's probably 3 times in the past 2 years... and each time they have come. No wait, 3 times they did, 1 time I got the canned response. It said to check the FAQ thing. Well, I did - and the answer was there. I had to spend 25 minutes *grumbles about a waiste of his time that the Gm could have just put on the dang message*, but all in all it was there. Like KD said, some suck and some are great. It's like calling a credit cards customer service... you get frustrated when you are calling India, and you can't understand them through the accent.. and you consider it to be an awful experience.. but hten you call the same number and get someoen with less of an accent. They could dot he same thing, but one provided you the service you felt your deserved. *just had to put his two cents in* hehe. YAY for the new boards btw.. i likey :) :P
