my build

Postby Onocep » Fri Jun 18, 2010 3:06 pm

I am working on a Sampire build as a few of you know. I have come to some what as stand still on it as the progression is slow and to be expected. I am working on Swords, Parry, Chiv, those are the prominate ones. I am around 70% on those atm. I am fighting skells in the bone yard outside of Brittain. This could be the problem, I don't know. Maybe I should move to a more difficult area or is this to be expected as far as leveling goes? I do pretty good at this area, I don't get yanked and I do good with bandages in surviving a gang up.

Another problem that I have points into skill I dont need, and done all I can (arrows down or locked) and they are not going down. I don't know what I need to do to get them to decrease.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I won't be on much this weekend due to work, but Monday evening I should be on quit a bit through out the week and weekend. Thanks beforehand!

Hey I can give you a soulstone fragment...what you do is move the skills that you don't want to the soulsstone and then double click the stone and choose to remove skills

Another way is to set up skill decay:

lock all of the skills you want to keep.

mark down skills you want to get rid of

mark up alchemy....and purchase skill in alchemy up as much as you can (usually 30pts) when you run down the alchemy, repurchase up until you have decayed all the skills you need.

alchemy decays the fastest of all skills

also, try to look for KD in vent or ingame this weekend and I can get you a skill tutor crystal ball. You place it in your backpack, turn it on, and whenever you work a skill, it tells u in your journal whether its too easy, optimal, etc. So you can change what you fight to see if thats the type of monster u need to fight, or the kind of potion u need to make for alchemy gains, etc (it works on all skills).

Very handy, and I have a bunch of these free for any PAS members.

Onocep, you should be fighting harder monsters. I suggest trolls and ettins, and then earth elementals in Despise. The skeletons will not give gains past about 50 sword skill.

Method 1

50-70 skill - Attack Ettins found in Despise
70-80 skill - Attack Earth Elementals found in Shame
80-100 skill - Attack Solen Warriors found in Solen Hives
Method one is a more casual training regime. It lets you get comfortable with playing a warrior in general, with use of your auxiliary skills such as Chivalry, Bushido, etc. You also get lots of gold and magic items from looting.

Alternative
40-60 skill - Skeletons, preferably 1-3 at a time these can be found in any graveyard
60-70 skill - Lizardmen such as you'd find in the top level of Despise
70-85 skill - Ogres, again in Despise but at lowest level this time (avoid the Ogre Lords)
85-100 skill - Earth Elementals found in Shame or Despise level 2
100-120 skill - Cyclopean Warriors found in Cyclops Valley in the Lost Lands and Despise level 3
This method slightly better scales your skill level to your opponents, you'll take less damage, have to repair less armour and you should gain a bit faster. The figures are all approximate but you'll know when you've just about topped out with any given monster type as your gains will slow considerably.

Method 2

40-120 skill - Attack a pet Golem
This method is a little bit of a trick, but is allowed. You will not get in trouble for using this trick. You can often see players using this outside of Luna. This method of training requires a few setup procedures.
Acquire a 100% poison weapon in your melee skill, or a Use Best Weapon Skill one. Make sure that the weapon you get does not have any hit spell on it. If it does, it will make this method unfeasible.
Acquire a GM Tinker made Golem. Hopefully you have a friend who has GM tinkering, and they can make you one. If not, they shouldn't cost too much.
Once you have your Golem, have someone with 110 Animal Lore find out what its wrestling skill is. The value of this number is revealed in the next step.
Acquire a set of +20 (or greater) jewelry in your melee skill. Your goal with this is that when you put on the jewelry, your skill should be between 10 and 20 points lower than the Wrestling on the Golem at all times. This is to maximize gains. At 40-70 skill you will likely have to use jewelry to boost your fighting skill into the proper range.
Join a guild if you are not in one already. You can also start your own which is not very costly.
Now that you have completed those four tasks, here's what you do:
Grab your Golem and stand someplace. The popular place for this training is outside the Luna bank.
Equip your weapon and jewelry. Remember your skill should be no farther than 20 below the Golem's wrestling.
Say "all guard me". This will make your golem highlight green to you.
Say "all stop". This will make the golem stop guarding you, with new pet commands you say "all follow me" and golem never attacks you and will always follow you.
Use the Context Menu on the golem and select the "kill/attack" option and target yourself, then QUICKLY press your enter button.
If you do this right, the Golem should stop attacking you right away and you should start to gain. Please be aware, you may have to go through steps 3-5 several times before it works right. If you keep getting hit, just keep using the 'all stop' command.
As your skill increases you should remove the skill enhancement jewelry as needed. Eventually you will surpass the Golem's skill. This is okay because as long as you are 20 points below or above your opponents fighting skill, you can gain your own.
Note: While this method can be fully automated, it is important not to train unattended. You will be taken to jail if a Gamemaster determines you are not paying attention.

I spent alot of time in the Painted caves to gain sword skill. Took a while and I was a noob. Next time, to gain archery, I used a golem, and it went much faster. Kind of felt like cheating, but once you've gained one melee skill to 120 the old-fashioned way, you've earned the right to golem train, IMHO.
