Decision In Solitude

The glacial winds swirled about him like a tempestuous lover, clawing at his armour and biting at his flesh. His hair a wild tangle whipping across his face and into his eyes, Kaylor lowered his head, enduring nature's fury as he pressed his steed onward through the blinding snow. Thought required solitude and there existed nowhere better in this world for solitude than Ice.

He had nothing tangible upon which to base his angst, nothing beyond a failed attempt on his life and a shadow's flame. It was known that he had taken up mantle as Lord Chalnoth's squire, therefore the question weighing heavily was whether that knowledge had merely been used in attempt at dissuading him from the position or tactic used as warning against Chalnoth's life. Instinct led him toward the latter, but station held him from disclosure lest it bring about alarm without substantial cause. Should he wait until more presented or discuss the issue with his liege lord now? Delay could lead to opportunity if, indeed, instinct proved true. By then 'twould be too late.

His decision finalized, the Templar turned his mount toward home.
