Lord of the Demons: Part 2

"You're Mad! You can't hope to defeat such a beast!" the stranger cried. Niela'ras merely shook her head as she took flight. As she turned a corner her mind wandered back to her childhood and the stories of her caretaker. "When the hour grows late and the hell hounds cry, quickly to the sanctuary young gargoyles must fly. For deep in the Abyss an evil dost stir, tis the Slasher of Veils, a villainous cur. A lord of Demons with eyes ablaze, look ye not to match his gaze." she recited to herself. She scanned the terrain as she glided through the dungeon. As she passed the snake infested ruins of Medusa's lair she thanked the heavens for her wings, for she had no interest in wading through hundreds of snakes.

Soon she found herself surrounded by gelatinous puddles that gurgled and screeched as she flew above them. "The Passage of Tears." she murmured to herself as she opened her pack to fetch her elemental slaying weapon. She glided slowly through the acidic halls, constantly scanning her surroundings. This was not her first visit to the area, she had often hunted the elemental beasts that called it home. Suddenly a noxious fog flooded the area. Niela'ras knew all to well what was coming. "Acid Lord! Let me pass or I'll be forced to end you!" She shouted, her words echoing off the corroding walls. Lacking a response, she attempted to proceed through the passage. "Ssssshuuurrrrook!" Bellowed a large acid elemental as it arose from a nearby puddle of ooze. "Fine, we can do this the fun way." Niela'ras exclaimed as she took aim and launched her soul glaive. The spinning blades of the weapon found their target as they imbedded into the monsters throat. The creature screamed a horrid gurgle as thick green blood cascaded from its neck. Sensing a counterattack, Niela'ras swooped to the left of the creature and retrieved her weapon as the creature crashed its arms to the ground. Once in range she prepared for another throw, aiming again for the creatures neck. Unfortunately the weapon was still coated with the creatures greasy blood causing it to slip out of her hand at the wrong moment. The glaive curved off path and struck the wall behind the creature, lodging itself within the decaying wall. "Gwagh hawh." the monster scoffed as it stood between the gargoyle and her weapon. "You think that's funny? Well then check this out!" Niela'ras shouted as she pulled a glowing orange bottle from her pack and began to shake it. The thick liquid inside the bottle grew bright as a forge as she tossed it at the acid lord. The bottle shattered and erupted with flame, consuming the creature in seconds. Niela'ras jumped the flaming puddle left by the beast and retrieved her glaive from the wall. She cleaned the weapon as she proceeded towards the central ruins.

As she reached the back of the passage the dungeon floor gave way to smooth stone. "This must be the place." she thought to herself as she landed. As she checked her combat supplies she was interrupted by a long lonesome howl. "...the hell hounds cry." she whispered to herself as she crept into the ruined city.
