I think he means he can switch between those skills... like he has them both scrolled to 120 and can change them out on a soulstone if he wants.

Okay? well that's new to me, we didn't have soulstones in my day, or anyway to build up other skills to gm without reducing another.

yea so pretty much they are switchable or personal favorite like bushido is good for confidence and evasion. but on the other hand if u get dismounted you cant run far but if u have 120 ninjitzu u can go animal form and bolt off so its personally what u want and like 120 is if u dont want to be para gank so it just what u want but i switch all my skills around daily

120 EI
120 Focus
120 Mage
120 Med / SW
120 Myst
120 Resist

is having sw instead of med a huge advantage? i was more than considering the switch but i rather enjoy multiple dumps for multiple targets rather than survivability.

On the archer, why Med instead of Focus? Do you use active meditation when you have Med on him? As I understand it, Focus and Med give the same passive mana regen, and Med is only faster when using it actively. If not using it actively, it seems like the stamina regen from Focus would make it better on a physical combat character.

Med is faster than focus. No one (hardly) actively meditates, but a lot of people use med over focus because you get like twice as much mana regen from it passively.

Well I actively meditate quite often, but then I am used to being a "no one". :P But I don't PvP much, and the main times I actively meditate are after I get rezzed and after I do a WoD dump to finish off a boss.

Anyway, that's interesting about the speed difference and good to know. I had been told it was the same passive rate. (Focus didn't exist yet when I played before, so it's a new skill to me.) I just went and looked it up on UO Guide and it turns out to all be quite complicated with INT and other things factored in. With 10 INT and 120 skill, Med seems to give about 47% faster passive regen, which is the highest difference possible from what I can tell. At 150 INT and the same skill level, Med only works about 26% faster. Significant but not overwhelming.

My mage runs 120 med, 120 focus, has 186 mana and 11 or 12 MR--yes, this is the guy I still actively meditate with. I think I have a mana addiction...

Yea that calc is pretty cool. I hadn't seen that.

When I said that med was like twice as fast as focus, I meant just the amount of mana regenerated by meditation vs focus not counting intelligence. The percent changes you posted include mana regen based only on intelligence as well as focus or med which to some degree undervalue the power of meditation. Of course, everyone has some intelligence that gives them mana regen, but when you're making a decision about a skill, one way to look at it might be "med will give me 100% more additional mana regen over what I have already from intelligence as would focus."

Unrelated to what I just said, med also makes the mana regen on your items scale better (to my understanding by making the gains from MR diminish more slowly). So, if you have a lot of MR on your suit, you'll get better effects from using med than focus--obviously only concerning mana regen.

Anyway, I kinda think you would enjoy trying a wraith or lich form necro if you're that into mana : p
