Talk about anything that's clean.

I'm not honestly sure if I posted here about my audition in April.
I had an audition at this private college around here to become a music major. I knew the music director from being in his community band, he called me and almost begged me to pick up my instruments and play for him. I was flattered after not picking up my poor instruments for nearly a year.
I auditioned on a hard piece, which he said I played very well, did all of my major scales, took a theory "test" to tell where I was with my theory (that i am pretty sure if it was graded I would've failed hehe) and he asked me about measurements for his marching band, Catawba Pride.
I got a letter two days ago, been working almost all the past two days at work, so I got a letter from Catawba, stating I was accepted into the department of Music and will receive $4,500 for being a transfer student, so far that's all the scholarship money I have been rewarded. I got a little hint from the director that I have a marching band scholarship, a concert solo musician scholarship and a few more tucked away after the people at the financial aid get my package together, then I will be rewarded the rest of the money!
I am so excited! I didn't think I would go back toward music after having such a horrible junior and senior year with my musical career. I'm glad I'm fulfilling one step towards my musical dream =)
I will keep you all posted on what else I get from there and post pictures once I get marching stuff underway! I'm so excited and thought I should share it with my 2nd family!
I hope you all are doing well, stay safe over the memorial day weekend and eat a lot of good food for me! I work a 12 hour shift tomorrow, so no good good food for me!

Update:
College starts August 17th with classes, I start my first band August 8th, my 2nd band August 17th, my third and fourth August 23rd and wait until October to gain two more. My music dean has a huge list of books, composer notes and other crazy musical items he wants me to look into.
I"m proud to announce I am 1/3 piccolo players in our first year of marching band for the college, we have a pretty neat show this year, hopefully I can get my mom or Judas to video tape a show and some pre-game things to post on here!
I was offered a job at the college as an internship with the Music Dean to help my composing, hopefully *crosses fingers* I can get a piece out for other bands to play one day! (it's a goal I have)
Sadly UO was put aside again, I will pay for a 3 month subscription once in awhile to get on and chat around, but with college payments, car payments, insurance, and gas it's going to be a little tough, but it'll be manageable!
I hope you are all doing well! I will post more once I get into school and figure out my classes and see what all opens up for me! Oriention is the 13th-16th and Band camp is the 8th-12th so I'm going to be a little busy Red
Safe Travels!

Small Update: Band camp went well! Got our show music done and got a few new tan lines, well.... burn lines... Orientation is now until Tuesday then I start my work load Wednesday! My schedule is a doozy but hopefully all will be good!!
MWF - Critical Writing (9-10)
Elementary German (10-11)
Understanding Music Notation (11-12)
Wind Ensemble (12-1)
TR- Intro to Religion (9:30-10:45)
First Year Seminar (12-1)
Catawba Community Band (2-5)
Catawba Pride Marching Band (6-9)
Catawba/Salisbury Swing Band (9-10:30)
That's my crazy life until December, and I still get to work hopefully 25-35 hours a week! I was given the opprotunity to study under one of the best flutists in Catawba, Jack Murray, who also majors in oboe, bassoon, saxophones and clarinet. I am also taking some private lessons in wind instruments and also "working/independent study" under the dean of music with him learning how to properly conduct, file music, repair instruments and make horrible jokes. (Was told that's a must when becoming a music major, I'll have to tell you guys some pretty bad ones once I learn some)
Other than that life is going on. Judas says Hi to everyone who remembers him. I'm going to try to get back on once my time cools down so slightly, but that may be a challange cause right after Marching band I'm shoved into a Pep band for the Catawba Basketball teams then into more and more bands I have no control over.
I enjoy it, my music professors are amazing, and always ask me what classes I am taking and sign me up for ones I didn't knew they had. I'll keep you all posted! Promise!
-Musically yours, Red.
