When you cast this at the etheral shadolords it does mass damage AND you Lose a piece of blackrock that's in your pack. :(

And the damage you do seems to be a percentage of current hp the shadowlord has left....When he was fresh I did 12k or so damage with one blast....when he was nearly dead I only did 250 or so...so definitely worth doing it in the beginning or save it for the next one...don't waste your blackrock

Yes - I tried once at an almost undamaged lord with a large piece of black rock and I think I did 23,000 damage and he was 1/2 dead. I thought maybe they set it up so that armagedon does nearly 1/2 hp damage - this would make it so that the first three users of armegedon would probably be the receivers of the cloak. But your damage sounds like it was less - was that a small black rock?

Yup...I didn't have any big pieces...just a bunch of small ones

GalenKnighthawkeIf we'll need it to kill something let me take this opportunity to slip in a request that casting Armageddon not be required.

A good example would be the ethereal-form shadowlords we saw in time-altered, Ethereal Void Moonglow (Voidglow?). Casting that spell helped, but you could kill them without the spell. Without using that spell, Galen managed to get I think it was 4 Cloaks of Corruption. Of course I left them behind on LS and they can do me no good now but you see the point...It was possible to slay the critter without using the spell and taking that extreme risk, it was just harder.

Ah.

In fact, this system has been revisited for the upcoming events. Instead of them doing massive damage, it does a good, but not unbalanced amount of initial damage, and then it no longer works.

The benefit, though, is that it lowers the "shield" around them, making them easier to attack with conventional abilities. Unlike the first round of ethereal Shadowlords, the new ones will have extraordinary defenses unless pierced with blackrock.

Did I slip too much?

If I remember correctly you say the spell above in game and if you have blackrock in your pack you will get a targeting icon and you target the monster...at least I think that was how I did it...lol

There is no targeting hand you must be close to your target when you cast the spell or it will not work and of course blackrock has to be in your pack. Tests conducted by others when not fighting the shadow lords resulted in them blowing themself to pieces, so handed it like it is bad voo doo, look what it did to the OLD Haven island.

I believe it was Larisa on Stratics
who said not long ago
that you can still say those words & it will blow you up

your body parts can scatter on the ground

I didn't know the words, other wise I would have tried it with the large pieces of blackrock someone gave me
on one of the shards (so I could do the 20th Anniversary event, to go into Mythrial's lair)

FYI ...

In this post ..

viewtopic.php?f=41&t=7296

PAS joined the “evil” side of the Followers of Armageddon (FOA) scenario that UO ran. The scenario had the FOA as a group of traitors that Lord British wanted dead. Of course, as Lord British was the traitor to KD and the people of Sonoma (in the KD story), it made perfect sense to join that side. Our logic was maybe LB feared that the armageddon spell that the FOA were working on might counteract his spell over the people of Sonoma that made them forget who KD and PAS were.

PAS was in two battles in the FOA scenario, and both times FOA “won” the event. This caused some panic on the part of the UO gms, as that side was not supposed to win. KD was summoned to discuss negotiating having PAS drop from the FOA side, as we were seen as “ruining the balance”. Soon thereafter the scenario ended in Sonoma.

-------------------

true story - I was summoned to discuss PAS leaving the FOA side of that event. I was considered the ultimate "traitor" to the UO gms (by roleplaying the true King of Sonoma as opposed to Lord British), and our presence (along with 3 other Sonoma Alliance good aligned allied guilds) on the "bad guys side" (FOA), was determined to be "unbalancing" the event on Sonoma.

I was told "all the other shards were "cooperating" by having the "good guys" (Lord British) win the events. On Sonoma, we were able to win each of the events, and it was causing heartburn. I demanded several silly things that I knew they could not meet before we would withdraw. I demanded that PAS members would have access to all chests in Nujelm as if they were additional banks for our members (unlimited capacity). I also demanded that they remove the guards from Nujelm, as it belonged to PAS. I also demanded that only PAS members be allowed to gate or recall into Nujelm. All others had to arrive by boat *smiles*.

I was shocked when they said they didn't think they could remove the guards from Nujelm, but they would discuss it and get back to me. DOH! That meant they might consider the other 2 demands???? rofl, the event ended earlier on Sonoma than many expected, so we never got a final decision. We all assumed that was their answer to my demands (just take their ball and go away). I treated that like just another victory for PAS. Ah, the good old days.
