Rome burned, and it was 99% marble.

Actually most of Rome was made from mud brick.

depending on what the mud was made of such as high in grass or weeds that would allow the mud to burn...i mean think about it

grass gets eaten then digested then expelled from the body dries out and is burnable...before burning mix with water and form into a shape let dry and then burn....makes sense to me just dont want to be the person handling the wet "mud"

The romans used a form of concrete.
Somehow they got the idea to mix some lime from a nearbye vocaneo.
This gave it the red color we now associate with their work.
The marble is just a thin pannel over the ugly bricks.

As for burning it down.
They also invented a form of naplam. Known as greek fire.

Ask One of our 'old Men' about how to burn down a city with naplam.
20 years in combat arms. OMG drakelord, are you crazy? Everyone's luck runs out sometime.
