In everyones opinion are any of the weapons/armor worth getting?

I'm not an expert, but I would suggest the Leggings of Embers and Ancient Samurai Helm. Many players use these on at least one character. The quiver of infinity is nice ... whether you have an archer or not. A lot of players wear it on other non-archer characters for the mods.

People sometimes suggest the Holy Sword ... but I've found it to be very very slow.

Not sure about the rest. Hopefully you'll get lots of useful input from others.

she only says that about sword cause of her low dex but there are better swords out there now
