OOC - Need your opnion

Postby Maddwg » Wed Oct 10, 2012 7:37 pm

Over on a different forum, someone said that my signature was insulting to women (the womanizer thing). Is it? I'm confused. It's not like Maddwg lies about it. He doesn't promise to marry women before he um....sings to 'em. (After all he and they are pixels, singing is it). It's not like he forces himself on women, he justs takes advantage of those willing to be taken advatage of. A womanizer. The guy on the other forum must think womanizer equals forcing women, which of course is ludicruous.

Here is what i was thinking when I created it.
Paladin - He is because being a paladin in UO is a skill, just like cooking.

Drunkard (another insult, to alcoholics don't ya know) - Maddwg drinks and admits it. He'll share too. Is this an insult? How so?

Womanizer - he likes the women. Especially the pixel kind. Doesn't lie about it. Is this an insult? Degrading? I'm confused.
Maddwg drinks, shares a drink if their willing and sings to 'em.

Raconteur - career choice.

Does my signature bother you in any way? I'm not trying to start trouble. I want to hear you honest opnion. After all, Maddwg would have a hard time with the ladies if he was insulting them now wouldn't he?

Hopefully, I didn't bore you to death for a second there.

Me--I ain't a paladin, I'm a systems administrator.
Drunkard - no, I'll have a drink once in a while.
Womaizer? been married to the same woman since 1982, never cheated, never will.
Raconteur - I would like to think so.

Okay, please tell me if you think the sig is degrading or insulting.
Thanks

I do not find it insulting. It is honest and forthright. Anyone who give you grief over this sig is way too AR for gaming and probably rather self serving in RL.

There is one flaw in your mix however. And that is that a true Paladin would be neither a drunkard or womanizer. A paladin is a holy warrior, honor and duty bound. If your going for the Friar Tuc approach, he was NO Paladin.

Well that's my 2 cents and if you have another $4.00 you can go to Strarbucks

Thank you for your opinins. I appreciate that.

I totally agree about the paladin thing and even pointed that out. When I first started playing UO I was so disappointed that there were no restraints on paladin. You could even be a murderer necromancer/paladin (karma would be useless). That's just crazy.

Thanks guys.

roleplay is what you make of it.

5% (or more) of any group are loonies that will never agree with you (regardless of the topic).

As for degrading, etc. .... pfft!

My ingame character KD is a lot like the RL me (except for the crown thing), but I also had a looney character called Napalm Death that acted like Beavis (fire, fire!) and ran around chucking purple pots on another shard.

I had a guy give me grief there once about using Napalm in the name, and we had a long talk ingame about what roleplay was, how this is a game that allows us to create personas that are similar or very different from how we are in RL. And how that made UO so awesome!

Anyways, after that hour, this guy decided to create a character and joined me and many others in this evil roleplay guild. He ended up having such a blast that he then created a character on Sonoma and joined PAS.

He has been gone for awhile, but we would laugh all the time about the life and times of our looney characters on that other shard. I still smile thinking about those days.

Never bow down to the 5 percenters is one of my mottos.

Be yourself, or be whatever character you want to be in UO. Take advantage of that freedom. And most of all ....

HAVE FUN WITH IT!

Hell, I was torn between roleplaying the King of Sonoma or the Janitor of Sonoma! And to this day I wonder what it would have been like to be the Janitor of Sonoma.

One day, I will create a character that will (literally) clean up this shard, And when I do, that character will definitely have a lot of looney in him/her. And if someone gives me any grief over that, I will just laugh and clean up the blood on the ground after someone kills the guy :)

I do not find your name to be insulting to woman at all...
when we play you know how to kiss up and get drunk and have lots of fun... All of women fall to your feet!

not offensive

Postby Cherry » Tue Oct 16, 2012 11:56 am

I do not find it offensive at all. After all I had to put up with a char named Plfiger the Sick always peeking up peoples armor, throwing purple potions, etc. I know KD remembers that char.

Offensive? Really? LOL!!!

Postby Kellan » Wed Oct 17, 2012 9:29 pm

Personally, I have never found you offensive in any way. I do wish however you can find "the cure" with UO 12 step program for that pesky alcohol "thing". :P

I have found your roleplay to be lighthearted and extraordinarily creative and fun. I say - keep it up!

I too do not find it offensive. Besides it's just a game. If your not having fun then why pay to play.

What's the say, "Don't hate the player hate the game" hehe
