Ok, so I go ahead and put all my bard skill back on one char and figure I will go with Mysticism and focus and go all 120s so I can be uber bard...lol...I was so thrilled to see one of my favorite templates get something new...These masteries seemed like just the ticket to get me excited to play my bard again...
My first clue should have been the rediculous quests to get the masteries...I mean come on...peace 5 mongbats???? provoke 5 rabbits to attack a wandering healer???? discord 5 goats???? I guess it was a little more dificult then I thought...goats seem scarce nowadays and would you believe how hard it is to find a wandering healer and a rabbit in the same screen?...LOL...mongbats are plentiful of course so no problem there...haha

So I go through each idiotic quest and am given the book with the spells and realize that you can have only one mastery active at a time...ok, fine kinda makes sense...to have all of those abilities available at once could be insane...of course only one ability is active at a time and also for the same reason...would be nuts if you could have them all going at once...lol

then I realize that holy crap my amount of mana is sinking like a rock...the upkeep for these skills is absolutely stupid...i think they should have just made it a static (hope that is the right word) upkeep...in other words say I have 150mana then if I have one of these abilities active have it hold 30mana in "reserve" and i would only have access to 120 for other spells...at the rate it was dropping I dont think max meditation, focus and an 18mana regen suit would be enough to keep up with the loss...it was absolutely idiotic...

alas I guess I will throw my bard back in the closet and just keep shooting things with arrows or banging on them with swords...this was by FAR the biggest let down I have experienced in UO since my account was hacked...I think I feel more betrayal now...lol

I agree the gain from it is minimal they should of made it an aura type thing.
They took something that could of been good and destroyed it. Brings back good ol OSI memories.
 Hope is not a strategy.

but on the flipside of that ... how can anyone be happy with this? And therefore, logically, they will reverse nerf it to fix it till enough folks are at least fairly happy with it.
That's been history, although sometimes it take way too long to fix things.

But based on what u said, Damien, I cant imagine they wouldnt tweak this in several ways just like you recommend to make it actually functional.

 One can hope anyways.

I would hope they do tweak it some because as it is now it just isn't worth using...we will see but I am definitely not holding my breath...

no idea if lmc effects it or not...i just noticed mana dropping by 7points or so every 2-3 secs...that suit does have lmc but did not take that off to see if it dropped faster

According to this guy it does. Wearing a suit built purely for mr and lmc he still couldn't run it continuously though. Hope is not a strategy.

Good to know...I still might run them and see how effective they are in an actual combat situation but not very optimistic that they will be useful...
