Eating

Postby Maldar » Sun May 23, 2010 12:03 pm

I have noticed that my Swordswoman has to eat about every 4-5 minutes. That seems ridiculous to me. Anyone else notice this?

Also, does anyone know whether or not the hit chance drops when the character is hungry?

You know I have wondered that myself...I don't know that I have ever seen a definitive answer as to whether eating really effects anything or not...I have seen lots of people say that they have a hard time fighting with a hungry toon but I have never seen anything providing concrete proof that it really effects them...

Damien, my swordsman never eats... Well once in a while if I see something just laying on the ground or if there is food in a corpse of something I will eat it but I never carry food to eat while fighting...and I myself do not see a quantifiable difference...

Eww, Damien, you eat food in a corpse? I suppose you eat cake from Titans! Do you know where they carry that cake?!!

I don't think it matters anymore. I seem to recall a post by one of the programmers saying that being hungry is no longer taken into account. I believe toons get hungry faster now to allow you to use the new 'potions' that can be made using food. When they first came out I believe it was possible to keep being 'full' even though the timer between uses was up so they changed how quickly your toon got hungry. But I could be wrong :) It's been a while since I saw the post!

Cerberus, that makes sense. I bet you're correct. I'm going to starve my swordswoman and see if it looks like it is affecting her hit chance and/or damage inflicted.

Aside from the insignificant Stam Refresh, eating does absolutely nothing these days unless you are eating Enchanted Apples, Grapes of Wrath or any of the other Stat Food.
You can't spell "slaughter" without "laughter!"

Naturally, I have a stock of over a half million food.

I quit eating about a month into playing (Sept 2009), and have not eaten since. No issues as far as I can tell.

Back in the day (before fancy skill jewelry) we would eat when transferring pets our tamer could barely handle. Did it have effect? nope but we routinely did it anyway just in case it did.

It's what we call institutional inertia in my business. Why do you do it? because the person before you did it.
