Since i dont have a dog in this fight (people keep playing football after college?! I had no idea) my wife informs me that i must root for the team who's quarterback is not a rapist (at least as far as we know).
Go Gators -Disclaimer- I actually don't have a clue, but this really is the reason my wife has decided to root for the packers. I jsut root for whomever my wife does in pro football ... or whichever team has more Gators on the roster if not that. =)
Green Bay 24, Pittsburgh 20
If that is the final score, Jamie Silva - backup Safety for the Colts (one of the what, 19 (?) Colts' players that were out for the season) will give me a pair of signed game-worn cleats and game-worn gloves. If he wins, I buy dinner. Go Packers!
...Gators? Be careful about living in that glass house ... the Gators, if I recall, are second only to USC in number of college football players arrested in the last 10 yrs. Texas had the lead for awhile but USC blew past them in the last 3-4 yrs.
I believe its: 1. USC 2. Florida 3. Texas And btw I like the Gators too (even though Im a Sooner). They lost an awesome coach this year. KD
Having worked for the UF PR department i can tell you one of the major reasons UF has that number of arrests where some other schools i've worked at dont (cough, Alabama, cough Mich): the UF PD doesnt show show the favoritism you get at most colleges.
As a matter of fact, they had been known to go out of their way to hunt down players to look for crimes. Other schools look the other way on a LOT of stuff. This has been a major bone of contention between the faculty and the SID/Athletics side...
...I hear ya ... Texas is notorious for letting UT football players off the hook.
Just a few goodies ... Police were called to the back yard of the UT head coach to find the UT running back naked and yelling obscenities, among other things. he was surely drunk/high on drugs etc. once the coach found out it was his running back, all charges dropped. Just 2 yrs ago, a Texas player was arrested for sleeping at 3am in a car in Austin with an unregistered gun on his stomach, and drugs in the car. Oh and there were 3 other UT players in the car. None ever faced any jail time like an ordinary citizen would have. Week before the Oklahoma Texas game, UT star running back arrested for breaking into someones house and taking their tv set. Result .. charges were pending till the week after the OU game and then dropped. it goes on and on. Funny quip about the first story ... OU Coach Barry Switzer was asked if he was worried about this UT star running back .. his reply "Hell yeah I worried about him running a naked reverse on us" rofl KD
LoL nice.
While i was at UA there was a shooting where one of the players got shot at (if i remember correctly he wasnt hit... if he was it was minor). It was a huge story. Well my wife worked at teh newspaper at the time. What wasnt reported, because the police failed to even mention it, was that the player was meeting the guy who shot at him to buy drugs ... and then tried to rob the guy selling him the drugs. I remember saying at the time "if i had some 300 pound man attempting to beat the crap out of me, i'd find my gun too!".
