Wow. Mining was like the second thing i ever GM'd back in the late 90s. I dont think i would have the patience to do it again!
Sorry to hear it and GL Maldar... on the bright side, think of all the ingots you'll have!

Here's what you do: get a golem and a gargoyle's pickaxe and take them to the twisted weald. Use the gargoyle's pickaxe to bring up a shadow iron elemental and set your golem to attack it. (I recommend having tinkering skill to keep the golem healed.) Then get yourself discorded by a satyr and start attacking the golem with a 100% poison damage pickaxe. Your mining will shoot up and you can be GM in about 2.5 hours.
Ok, so I made all that up, but it's not really any more ridiculous than some of the tricks that do work.

Useful and tedious to raise. Sucky combination of a skill to lose. I feel for ya...I hate raising mining so much that I am still stoning it back and forth between my smith and t-hunter as needed, hehe.

I can relate - sadly. I understand the horrible feeling of losing skills while thinking you have locked down soulstone frags.
I lost GM fishing and almost 90 Cook. Just typing that just now caused me to close my eyes and almost weep.
I thought i had locked the frags down. It was late and I was tired. No excuses but there it is. Next day when I logged in - they weren't there. At the time I did weep. I still haven't worked cooking again. Been working fishing but not GM yet.
So sorry that happened to you. *tear runs down cheek*
